I’m a figurative painter and printmaker from Germany, currently living and working in the North East of England.
An introvert by nature, the complexity of every-day life is both a miracle and challenge for me, which I seek to reflect upon in my work. Addressing human connection, melancholy, and the ‘uneasiness’ of the mind, my depictions of friends, strangers, or myself are not an actual image of the sitter, but a blend of my reaction towards them or myself, and anything my imagination likes to add. My work is both abstract and minimalist in style, combining techniques such as mono printing with traditional painting to illustrate the play between the conflicting forces we often feel in ourselves. The resulting figures are in a disturbing yet euphoric state between the conscious and subconscious, capturing the ambivalence of what it is to be a human.
