Felt is a textile material made by matting, condensing and pressing fibers together. It has a long history, with evidence of its use dating back to the Bronze Age in Denmark and references to it in classical Greek literature. It can be made using a variety of techniques, including wet felting, needle felting and nuno felting. Felt has a range of uses, including in the automotive and music industries, in framing paintings and in fashion. Nomadic cultures continue to use felt in the production of rugs, tents and clothing.
