I made this print in February 2021, when schools were closed and a bit of snowfall provided some much-needed entertainment. I was sledging with my kids at Ringinglow when this group of lads came rushing past us, eager to hit the slope after a long day of home schooling! The pop of colour provided by the plastic sledges was a perfect opportunity to use chine collé - a technique where coloured tissue paper is placed on top of the inked plate and transferred to the paper as it is run through the press. It's quite fiddly and hard to control, but I think the slight wonkiness adds to the appeal!
