Like most artists I know, I often listen to music while I paint. But since I set up my painting studio in the Old Drumbank Studios in Bristol this year, the individual songs I hear have been coming through onto the canvas -- with piano, guitar and cymbals showing up as ethereal clouds, angular swirls and glittery specks. The building that houses my painting studio is a former music studio, and I think there is still some music in the air that needs to get out in some way! I love that the creative vibrancy of the space and of the musicians who have worked there have woven their way into my work.
