A New Dawn Fades – shows Park Hill prior to its recent makeover. My work is inspired by urban landscape, the flux of city environments and issues of gentrification. I am particularly interested in Brutalist architecture and social housing. Since 2012, I have been exploring Park Hill, the Grade II\* listed estate in Sheffield, documenting its regeneration. For this painting I wanted to work with materials that have a direct connection to the estate itself, namely concrete and spray paint (referencing the graffiti).

The inspiration

A New Dawn Fades – shows Park Hill prior to its recent makeover. My work is inspired by urban landscape, the flux of city environments and issues of gentrification. About the artist

Mandy Payne is an award-winning painter/ printmaker based in Sheffield. Originally, she trained as a dentist and worked in the Community and Hospital Dental services for 25 years. She had a career change in 2012 to work as a full-time artist, shortly before graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2013 with a BA Fine Art. Since then, she has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally. Her work is inspired by urban landscape and issues of gentrification. Interested in Brutalist architecture and in particular, social housing. She works with materials that have a physical connection to the sites she depicts, namely concrete and spray paint.

Postage is free. As we’re handling fragile artworks, we carefully wrap all pieces and only use a signed service for all of our shipping.
