The inspiration

This piece was inspired by my local beach where I spend lots of time gathering colour and texture inspiration. In different lights the coast line can look like completely different places. This particular piece was inspired by ‘the Haar’ which is a mist which can descend upon Edinburgh for days and creates the most beautiful atmosphere.

About the artist

Katy is an abstract artist from the seaside of Edinburgh where she lives with her husband and 4 kids. She studied at Central Saint Martins where she specialised in Screen Print. It was here that she discovered her love of using colour to create art and this has continued in to her work today. Katy’s atmospheric paintings are made with layers of abstract, geometric shapes. Depth is built through textured brush work, finished with subtle marks and glazes. Her work draws inspiration from the colours and lines of the dramatic Scottish coastline.

Postage is free. As we’re handling fragile artworks, we carefully wrap all pieces and only use a signed service for all of our shipping.

The Art Post premise is simple
