I was inspired by Rigoberta Bandini's song "Ay Mamá" to create this piece. Celebrating and admiring the female body and motherhood. Rigoberta's lyrics say: "I don't know why our boobs are so scary, without them there would be no humanity, no beauty, you know it well". Like Rigoberta's song, I wanted to challenge the fear and rejection that society continues to show against female breasts, especially when it comes to breastfeeding in public, one of the most beautiful and vital experiences in life. I intended to create a painting that would empower all mums and women, filling them with pride and strength to win any battle we may encounter.
