This was sketched while sat by the stream on a silent, overcast, summers day. This little packhorse bridge is clearly old but it stands below the far older Iron Age hill fort. The moorland landscape can appear empty at a glance but it is full of stories and history. Sometimes a sketch that hints at elements in the landscape is more powerful than a very descriptive one. The viewer then has a role in filling in the spaces and therefore engages with the image in a way you wouldn’t do with a photograph.
