Everyone is familiar with James McNeill Whistler's masterpiece, 'Arrangement in Grey and Black No.1', or "Whistler's Mother" as you may know it. Legend has it that Whistler's original model was a no-show, so his mother was a last-minute stand (sit) in. But no-one spares a thought for how Whistler's Mam got to the sitting at such short notice...

Our Sheffield artists document the lesser known artwork, and the second Art Tote "Whistler's Mam On't Tram." The piece depicts Whistler's mother during her early morning SuperTram journey, just pulling into the Cathedral stop. She's just finished her snack: a packet of Hendo's Yorkshire crisps and a can of Abbeydale Moonshine, a hasty breakfast; the result of a late night around Kelham Island the prior evening.

Word on the street is that Whistler's Mam never used her return ticket and it was sold at auction for a 7 figure sum - although no one knows who the buyer was - the ticket still remains valid.

We carefully selected the 100% cotton canvas tote from an eco-conscious Sheffield company to showcase our masterpieces. It's a roomy, high quality canvas bag for work, coffee shop galavants and dog walks. It's a tell-your-friends kinda bag that'll last the years.
