I was looking for an art subscription for a while, and I could only find art magazines, until I heard about The Art Post project. There's something about getting something through the post to look forward to that really keeps me going when work's stressful - which is most of the time(!)
I heard about The Art Post from my mum, the following week, I received one of the postcards with a thank you note from a friend, on the front was a beautiful painting by Kerry Louise Bennett. I had been a fan of hers' for a while, so this was just wonderful.
I subscribed to get The Art Post later that day. I've been getting art postcards from the Tate for a while, and they are a similar high quality, and the paintings looks amazing in miniature form, I was particularly surprised with how much detail you can see.
You can really tell that so much care goes into packaging. I have never seen, let alone opened, a wax seal in "real life", it was magical. Opening each Art Post is one of my favourite parts of the whole experience. There's a lovely quote on the back of each pack now too, which is a great touch.
I have bought two pieces of original artwork featured on the postcards already, and got to know lots of artists that I had never heard of before. I love buying art as gifts for friends and family, so I now have some 'go-to' artists to buy from.
I've created a pegboard gallery in my dining room and I have pinned most of the cards to this, it's such a great talking point when people come round. I send some of the postcards as birthday cards, and each month I bring one into work and gift it to one of my colleagues, just to say thank you for being so fabulous
